Tryout checklist


  • Registered for tryouts:
  • Online (nonrefundable) Fee: $100 (early Bird discount through April 15)
  • Walk-Up Fee: $125 (Cash or Credit)
  • Check birth date for the correct age group, bring a copy of your birth certificate or verification of age
  • Wear/bring appropriate gear – i.e., shorts/spandex, t-shirt, socks, kneepads, volleyball/tennis shoes, water bottle
  • Arrive 1 hour before the scheduled start time for check-in and metrics

if you are unable to attend the official tryout:


we strongly  encourage all athletes to attend our official tryouts. this provides the best and most accurate opportunity for our directors to see how the athletes compare to the rest of their age group. this creates the best situation for us to place athletes on the most appropriate team.


we do understand there may be circumstances that prevent an athlete from being able to attend the official tryout. we will be holding an early tryout for 13U-18U athletes on June 17. this is strictly for athletes that are not able to attend their official age group tryout.


Private tryouts, while not ideal, can be made available for athletes that are considering moving clubs and making tav houston their club volleyball home. We are very sensitive to the importance of finishing out the season, and also to ensuring that athletes are comfortable.

tav houston team levels

  • National Teams

    • 2026-27 National team names: Black, White and Blue
    • Our National teams are for athletes who are highly competitive and want to compete all over the US. 

  • State Teams

    • 2025-26 State Team Names: Royal, Silver, Gray and Navy
    • Our State (formerly Regional) teams are for athletes who want the competitive side of volleyball, but with travel limited to the state of Texas.

  • Local Teams

    • We do not have designated "local" teams. All teams below National will be Regional teams and will travel a few times during the season (typically Austin, San Antonio, or DFW).
