Coach Danielle is the varsity assistant at College Park HS and joins the TAV Houston ranks this year as our 12 Black head coach!

Name and Team: Danielle Barcenas, 12 Black
“Day Job”: College Park Biology teacher, Varsity Assistant V-ball Coach, and Assistant Girl’s Soccer Coach
Volleyball-related/Coaching Accomplishments: Played in the NJCAA National Tournament, Academic All-American, All-State Team – Illinois, Won the Lone Star Qualifier (as a coach)

About Coach Danielle

Tell me about your family. Husband – Andres Barcenas (Coach Dre) – married 8 years, 2 girls (Adileigh (4yrs) and Ariana (7months)

What advice would you give to volleyball players? Play collegiate volleyball, at any level, because I have never met one player that has quit that does not regret it in some way.

What college did you attend? Did you play a collegiate sport? Lake Land College and University of Illinois @ Springfield (played vball at both) then Master’s at University of Houston – Clear Lake

What is something you’re good at outside of volleyball? All sports, except anything involving swimming

Do you have a college degree? What was your field of study? Master’s degree in Environmental Biology

What would your friends say are your 2 biggest strengths and two biggest weaknesses, and why? Organization and taking initiative – strengths, Weaknesses are free food and not taking time off or spending enough time on myself
